Parents who have a child with a disability can understand the feelings of stress and uncertainty when navigating his education. From figuring out the steps to apply for special education resources to determining the best services that are available, it can be overwhelming when first beginning. To assist families moving through this process, there are many good organizations around the country that have created helpful resources for families who have a child with a disability.

Special Education Guide
A special education resources that are available for both parents and teachers is called Special Education Guide. In addition to providing information about special education resources across the different states, Special Education Guide also provides a comprehensive list of support organizations for families that have a child with a disability.

Child Development Institute
After receiving a request for an online resource for parents who have a child with a disability by the American Psychological Association and Psychology, the Child Development Institute was created in 1999. The institute acts as a hub for many special education resources from universities, school districts, professional organizations and public agencies around the United States. Parents can also receive tips on how to help their child outside of the classroom as well.

As part of their commitment to help children with special needs, the U.S. Department of Education created a helpful resources page for families. From comprehensive resources on different disabilities to information about the services through the Office of Special Education Programs, the page is a great source for families with a child with a disability.
